Our Mission

The Land Center for Cultural Engagement exists to train the next generation of Christian leaders to engage society with Gospel truth that results in human flourishing through educational pathways, thoughtful forums, relevant content, and critical research.

Our Work

Content and Resources

The Land Center produces a variety of content including articles, podcasts, and videos designed to equip the church.

Events

The Land Center will host a wide range of events designed to convene leading scholars and key voices on a variety of topics related to Christian cultural engagement. These events may often feature partnerships with likeminded organizations. This will include, but not be limited to:

  • Academic symposiums
  • Academic lecture series
  • Major conferences on key topics

Academic Programs

The Land Center will create academic programs for students, including, but not limited to:

  • A Faith and Culture Concentration at Texas Baptist College. Initial classes will include:
    • Human Dignity
    • Church and Culture
    • The Church and the Digital Age
    • Religion and Public Policy
  • Public policy internships with advocacy organizations in both Austin and Washington, D.C.

Research

The Land Center will be a catalyst for research on Christianity and cultural engagement. This will include, but not be limited to:

  • An annual research project on an issue of importance to Southern Baptists and Evangelicals
  • Commissioned studies with leading research partners
  • A Research Fellows Program

Convening/Leadership

The Land Center will convene private gatherings of leaders across the evangelical world to discuss important issues that impact the church and the culture. This will include, but not be limited to, an advisory council made up of SBC leaders, pastors, civil leaders, and public officials.
